At Little Prep Nursery, we understand that the early years are the most important time in a child’s life – 90% of brain development happens before the age of five. That’s why everything we do is shaped around giving your child the very best foundation for all future learning and growth.
Learning at Little Prep is led by curiosity and play. Our practitioners provide rich, high-quality interactions — introducing new vocabulary, taking turns in conversation, and following each child’s own interests. We carefully balance adult-led activities with child-initiated exploration, in a stimulating environment designed to encourage new skills. Every child also enjoys outdoor learning each day, come rain or shine.
Curriculum
Little Prep Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory guidance and Development Matters curriculum. This allows our Nursery Practitioners to monitor children’s progress and assess continually if they are at the expected stage of development.
The curriculum includes learning from all seven areas of children’s development. These are Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Communication & Language, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts & Design.
Each room has its own Curriculum Intent — a clear outline of what we aim for every child to learn and experience before they move on to the next stage. This is always shared with parents so you know exactly what your child is working towards.
When your child is ready to move to a new room, we take care to share everything we know about them with their next Key Person, so the transition feels seamless and your child feels secure.
